Reimagining the garden of eden as an indigenous landscape.
The work draws inspiration primarily from the tropical biome of Kerala, in addition to its cultural features, folk ethos and myths. Other inspirations include floral motifs from Mughal art, geometric arrangements, jewel color palettes and crystal energy work.
Within crystal energy work, pink opal is widely regarded as a stone that addresses generational cycles and heals wounds of the past. It supports the user in facing their generational trauma and releasing themselves from the fear and anxiety passed down to them through their ancestors.
Project: Eden
The set weaves a narrative of redemption and transgression as an infinite loop within the cocoon of cyclical time in the garden of Eden. The garden is visualized within the indigenous life of the peninsula. In doing so, Project: Eden situates an enormous history within the psyche of the descendants, asking them to look into the centuries of violence within themselves that they must address.
